About this upgrade ...

Dr Bruce Powell comments "Elevate 6 has added new features such as expanded graphics and traffic templates that enable the user to analyse very difficult elevator and traffic situations."

Dr Gina Barney comments "although the look and feel of Elevate Version 5 has been retained, Version 6 permits more comprehensive appreciation of the simulation results."

Vastly improved speed of simulation

Elevate now has a fast forward button that accelerates the speed of simulations.

The exact speed will vary according to the details of the analysis.  But as an example, on a test computer running the main Elevate demonstration simulation, the timings were as follows:

Elevate Version 5     3 minutes 25 seconds
Elevate Version 6     1 minute 5 seconds

You can still run the simulations at "normal" speed to examine the operation of the elevators.

Enhanced graphical results

Elevate now has a wide range of graphical results including plots of:

Passenger Demand
Total Passenger Activity
Passenger Transfer by Floor
Queue Lengths
Car Position (spatial plots)
Car Loading on Departure from Home Floor
Car Loading on Arrival at Home Floor
Dispatch Interval from Home Floor
Average Waiting Time and Time to Destination
Passenger Waiting Time Results
Passenger Transit Time Results
Time to Destination

The user can control what is plotted.  Elevate 5 provided the average waiting time over the full duration of the simulation.  Elevate 6 can, for example, provide the distribution of waiting times and the average waiting time at the Restaurant Floor between 12:00 and 12:15.  Graphs are built "on demand", so you don't have to re-run the analysis to get a new graph.

User defined reports

Elevate has a new Results Options dialog box to select what is included in the standard Elevate print out.   You can filter out results that don't meet specified criteria, then choose which graphs and results you want included in your report.

Proforma traffic templates

Elevate now includes a selection of templates.  Templates use the population data you enter and provide a sample traffic flows.  For example, the Powell 2 hour lunch template can be applied to generate lunchtime traffic based on the template below.

Archive feature

Elevate now remembers all its simulation and calculation results. Just re-open your Elevate file, and you can review the results instantly, without having to run the analysis again.
